From left to right: Managers Rob Elam and Janin Elam sit with sons Dustin Elam and Tyler Elam, as well as brother Randy Elam, in the La-Z Boy comfort studio display at Elam's Home Furnishings, in Longview. Founded in 1987, Elam's has credited much of its continued success as a business to its commitment as a family owned and operated business.
If you ask the employees at Elam's Home Furnishings, they can tell you about how their business is rooted in long-time experience in the area, as well as the continued support of their family of businesspeople.
Begun in 1987 by Paul Elam, the Longview-based business boasts they are "Locally Owned, Family Owned, and Here to Stay."
"There's always something that we offer," said manager Janin Elam, daughter-in-law of Paul Elam, describing how the store typically has sales and different deals going on.
Among the large inventory is a fixture of La-Z Boy recliners and sofas, for which they are an official comfort studio, as well as end tables, dining tables and chairs, and even mattresses from brands such as Simmons and Englander.
Janin Elam said their store has been able to compete with the larger home furnishing establishments because, while they may be run by corporations with high overhead costs, Elam's remains family owned and operated, which she said remains a point of pride for the business.
