Valley routed Lake Quinault 56-22 last Tuesday (Dec. 10) behind 14 points from Karli Friese and 9 from Lauren Friese. Brooke Harden tore down 9 boards and swatted down 4 shots.
“We got off to a fast start,” WVHS head coach Matt Bannish told the Herald. “This game gave us an opportunity to get all players some playing time. Everyone that played scored in this game, something that doesn't always happen. We had good balanced scoring with many of our baskets coming off assists. Our transition game is improving and we have to get much better at executing our half-court offense.”
Willapa Valley 64, Naselle 28
Valley nuked Naselle 64-28 last Friday on the road. Karli friese knocked down 17 points and handed out 5 assists, and Alicia Smarciaz drained 16 points and made 4 steals.
“Naselle came out of the locker room ready to play and led most of the first
quarter,” Coach Bannish said. “Once we got rolling, our defensive pressure led to several transition baskets. I thought we did a nice job passing the ball, being unselfish with passing hitting the open person. Balanced team scoring is one of our goals for the season. We had a few too many turnovers and are
still working on execution of our half court offensive sets.”
Valley played at Ocosta last night and hosts Lake Quinault Friday.
