Inslee extends Stay Home order until end of May

May 5, 2020 was the start of the phased opening of Washington, but most of the residents are still being asked to stay home. Presenting a phased approach to the reopening of the economy, Governor Jay Inslee is using science and data to help guide the reopening timeline while examining the health of Washingtonians.

"I've got to adjust at the outset to recognize something that all of we Washingtonians have to realize and that is we have not won this fight against this virus," said Inslee. "That is why I am extending the order through May 31st." This effectively extends the ban against large gatherings and many close-contact businesses will have to remain closed.

"I would like to tell you that we would all be able to make reservations on June 1st, but I cannot," he continued. "We will have to continue to monitor and assess the data on a daily basis and adapt as conditions allow. So the new normal is not here yet."
