North Beach totally dominated South Bend 60-6 Friday night at Oyehut. The Hyaks outgained the Indians 639 to 58 and had 30 first downs compared to 3 for the Tribe.
“We started off well offensively, as we scored on our first possession,” South Bend head coach Tom Sanchez told the Herald. “We were still in the game, down 22-6 in the second quarter when we fumbled. They took over and went up 30-6 and that kind of took the wind out of our sails.”
South Bend’s lone score came on a 1-yard run by Mitch Edwards. The TD was set up by a 20-yard pass from Austin Lewis to Jordan Dockter on a fourth down play.
”We (received) good defensive efforts from Jordan Dockter, Ryan and Marcus Overstake, and Chris Jewell,” Sanchez said. “Our offensive line played well at times, especially early in the game.”
The Indians (0-2) are off until Sept. 27 when Adna visits for a non-league game. The Hyaks (2-0) host Naselle (1-1) Friday.
