“This was our best start for a road game,” Raymond HS Head Football Coach Rob Clements told the Herald. “Good teams can travel, and our players have really bought into getting off the bus and playing their best football.
“Outside of a fumbled pitch of the first drive, we executed offensively,” Clements said. “Our line did a great job up front once again.
“Darol (Ratsavongsy) was a beast in the first quarter,” Clements said. “It was the most physical I have seen him run. He keeps getting stronger, which is scary. Once they shifted their focus to Darol, it opened up the edge for Alex (Sida) to run.”
Alex Sida galloped his way for 139 yards and a 64-yard TD burst. Sida also picked off a pass on defense.
Quarterback Rayce Newman scored on defense when he gathered a fumble and raced into the end zone from 50 yards away. Newman also had a rushing TD on offense.
Neal Riley also got a defensive touchdown when he ran another fumble into the end zone from 5 yards out.
Coach Clements said he his players handled their adjustments well on defense.
“They have a good player at quarterback, and they do a good job with formation and play calling to keep teams spread out,’ Clements said. “It puts a lot of players in one-on-one situations, and (our) players did a good job handling all the adjustments.
“Hunter Borden led us in tackles again with 8, including a sack,” Clements noted. “Alex Sida had 7 tackles and an interception and James Hamilton had 8 tackles. Marvin So and Kason Koski did a good job in coverage.”
Raymond’s next game is Halloween night, Thursday, October 31 at Willapa Valley. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Gulls are 6-1 on the season.
“We have a bye week, and then Valley at Crogstad for the league title,” Clements said. “We control our own destiny. Valley will be healthy and ready to go. We need to prove that we can go on the road again. It should be a great game on Halloween night.”

North Beach 70, Indians 0
North Beach annihilated South Bend at the Indians’ homecoming Friday night at Millam Field. North Beach racked up 574 yards in total offense against the undersized Indians and pretty much scored at will. The Hyaks rushed for 489 yards.
“Their size and speed were too much for us,” said South Bend HS Head Football Coach Tom Sanchez. “We were able to move the ball in spurts and actually played decent defense at times, but any mistake we made was capitalized on. I would have like to have had an opportunity for us to have some success later in the game, but that did not happen. We will continue to work hard to improve.’
For North Beach, Saul Gonzalez gained 148 yards rushing. Carson Ketter netted 91 yards running the ball.
South Bend’s Ryan Overstake gained 57 yards on a dozen carries.
On defense, Dennis Johnson and Spencer recovered fumbles for the Tribe. Marcus Overstake recorded 9 total tackles, including 6 solo efforts, and Ryan Overstake had 8 total tackles.
South Bend (0-6) on the season and visit Willapa Valley (3-3) Friday, while the Hyaks host top-ranked Morton/White Pass (7-0).
