On May 1 at 6:37 pm the Washington State Patrol responded to a traffic accident a half a mile west of McCleary.
Isabel Calmo Lopez, a 19 year old Shelton women was stationary in a silver 2011 Kia Soul waiting to enter traffic at State Route 108. She was pointing eastbound on State Route 8.
Krystal M Johnson, an 18 year old South Bend woman, was driving a silver 1999 Honda Accord 4 door traveling westbound on SR 8.
Calmo Lopez turned left in front of Johnson who struck Calmo Lopez's vehicle on the passenger side according to the WSP report. This accident fully blocked SR 108 and the westbound lane of SR 8 for 4 hours.
Due to a language barrier, some subjects have not been positively identified at this time.
Calmo Lopez was not injured, but the Kia Soul was totaled and impounded by Rapid Recovery.
A 20 year old Shelton female passenger in Calmo Lopez's vehicle was declared deceased at the scene.
A 4 to 6 year old Shelton female and a 40 year old Shelton female passengers in the Kia Soul were injured and transported by aid to Capitol Medical Center. Andres Pablo Pablo, a 25 year old Shelton male passenger in the Kia Soul was not injured.
Johnson was not injured, but the Honda Accord was totaled and impounded by Rapid Recovery.
Both Diana P. Morales, an 18 year old South Bend female, and a 16 year old South bend female were both passengers of Johnson. Both were injured and transported by aid to Capitol Medical Center.
Both the cause and charges are still under investigation.
