Chehalis man cited after Winlock collision

No injuries were reported after a Chehalis teen struck a utility pole near Winlock Dec. 17, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Aid was called to the 2700 block of Hwy 603, north of Winlock, at around 8 p.m. after the 17-year-old male driver of a Toyota Corolla had allegedly been speeding down the road and lost control at a corner, crossed the center lane and drove into the ditch, with the rear of the vehicle striking a utility pole.

Neither the driver nor his two teenaged passengers were injured, though the driver was cited for speeding too fast for conditions. The vehicle reportedly suffered significant rear-end damage.

Toledo woman cited after striking tree

A Toledo woman has been cited after losing control of her vehicle south of town on Dec. 17, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's office.

The 20-year-old driver of a 2001 Ford F250 had been traveling on the 600 block of Smokey Valley Rd. at around 3:30 p.m. when she lost control during what she described as slick road conditions and struck a mailbox and a tree before coming to rest in the ditch.

While the driver was uninjured, her vehicle was totaled and she was cited for speeding too fast for conditions.

Winlock teen cited after driving off road

A 19-year-old Winlock man is unharmed after driving his truck off the road Thursday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of a 1992 GMC pickup had been traveling on the 100 block of Avery Rd., northeast of Winlock, when he took too wide of a turn and drove into a drainage ditch on the west side of N. Military Rd., causing minor damage to the vehicle.

The driver was subsequently cited for driving without proof of insurance.

Winlock teens injured in I-5 collision

A pair of Winlock teenagers were injured during a collision on I-5 Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 18-year-old male driver of a 2003 Dodge Neon, from Winlock, was traveling north on I-5 near Milepost 82 when a 2001 Isuzu box truck, driven by a 23-year-old Napavine man, struck the rear of the Dodge after the teenager had stopped for traffic.

The Dodge then struck a 1997 Ford pickup in front of it, driven by a 29-year-old Centralia man, which in turn struck a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria in front of the pickup, driven by an 81-year-old Vancouver man. After the initial collision, a 1998 Jeep Wrangler traveling behind the Isuzu, driven by a 38-year-old Randel woman, was unable to stop in time and struck both the Dodge and the pickup.

Both the driver of the Dodge and his 17-year-old female passenger, also from Winlock, were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with unspecified injuries. While the driver of the Jeep was also described as injured, she declined transport.

The driver of the Isuzu, identified as Grady J. Bowman, has since been charged with second-degree negligent driving, while the driver of the Jeep was cited for tailgating.

Winlock man booked on drug charge

A driving violation led to a drug arrest for a Winlock man on Dec. 16, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's office.

Matthew R. Istre, 25, was pulled over on the 3600 block of Jackson Hwy., south of Chehalis, under suspicion of driving with a suspended license and, during their investigation, deputies discovered Istre was in possession of prescription methadone that did not belong to him.

He was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance as well as driving while license suspended, third degree, and booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Christmas decorations stolen in Winlock

Christmas decorations were reportedly stolen from a Winlock area residence sometime last weekend, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime between Friday and Saturday, someone entered an unlocked pump house on the 100 block of Coma Rd., south of Winlock, and stole a tote bag containing Christmas decorations. The estimated loss is around $50.
