Vader man airlifted after fiery collision on SR 506
A Vader man was pulled from a car fire on SR 506 Dec. 23 after having sped off the roadway, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The 56-year-old driver of a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am had been traveling westbound on SR 506, about three miles west on Vader, when he entered a curve “at a high rate of speed,” read the report, and left the roadway, striking a tree and catching on fire.
Firefighters with Cowlitz/Lewis Fire District 20 responded to the scene and extricated the man, who was listed as sustaining unspecified injuries and flown to Harborview. The vehicle was considered a total loss and charges related to the driver’s rate of speed are expected to be filed, according to the report.

Toledo man booked after “sacrificing” livestock
A Toledo man has been arrested for animal cruelty after allegedly “sacrificing” a family member’s goat Dec. 22, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Kameron D. Williams, 22, was arrested after a reporting party called from the 100 block of Middle Crest Dr., north of Toledo, and said Williams had entered the residence claiming he wanted to “make a sacrifice to his Gods” and was later seen having shot the animal with an arrow before cutting its throat.
When deputies responded, they found Williams up the road from the residence and, though he denied harming the goat, he was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree animal cruelty.

Between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, suspect(s) made forced entry into a residence on the 300 block of Penning Rd., in Chehalis, and stole four gold and pearl rings, 14 gold and sterling silver necklaces, nine bracelets, three watches, 22 pairs of diamond/pearl and sterling silver earrings, 2 pendants, and 11 pins/broaches, including a “bee pin”, “diamond turtle pin”, “small ruby/diamond lady bug pin”, “sterling silver elephant pin”, “diamond angel pin”, “crystal snowman pin” and “gold angel pin.” The estimated loss is $8,255.
