Winlock man runs stop sign near Toledo
A Winlock man was injured after allegedly causing a collision near Toledo July 8, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The 66-year-old driver of a 1998 Chevrolet pickup had been traveling on the 4300 block of Jackson Hwy., north of Toledo, when he entered the intersection with South Prairie Rd. and failed to stop at the stop sign, striking a 2006 Kia Sedona driven by a 42-year-old Centralia woman.
The causing driver was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with arm and rib injuries, while the driver of the Kia and her 9-year-old passenger were checked and cleared by medical aid. The causing driver was later cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.
Castle Rock woman crashes into Cascade Select Market
A Castle Rock woman is safe after driving her vehicle into the front of Cascade Select Market Thursday evening, according to the Castle Rock Police Department.
The 77-year-old driver had apparently pulled into a parking space at the front of the store, according to security footage, and kept going until she crashed into the front door and window, shattering them both and damaging a support beam.
Investigators say they have ruled out the use of drugs or alcohol as the cause of the crash, and believe the collision may have been a result of the driver’s advanced years.
As of Friday, the crash remained under investigation.
Castle Rock man wrecks car in Woodland
A Castle Rock man was hospitalized after causing a rear-end collision in Woodland Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The 62-year-old driver of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am had been traveling south on I-5 near Milepost 21 when he struck the rear of a Lexus GX460 being driven by a 42-year-old Lake Tapps man while the Lexus slowed for traffic.
The driver of the Pontiac was transported to St. John’s Medical Center with unspecified injuries, while the driver of the Lexus and his three passengers, a 37-year-old Lake Tapps woman, a 10-year-old Lake Tapps boys, a 57-year-old Sumner man and a 56-year-old Sumner woman were uninjured. Both Vehicles were totaled.
The driver of the Pontiac was alter cited for tailgating.
Vader woman cited after violent collision
A Vader woman is facing charges after suffering a violent collision east of town Friday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Elizabeth Bridgman, 31, had been traveling eastbound on SR 506 near Milepost 9 just after 11 p.m. when her 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora left the roadway, striking a wire fence and coming to rest on its roof in a nearby field.
The vehicle was reportedly totaled, while Bridgman was airlifted to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center, in Vancouver, with unspecified injuries.
The report said investigators determined excessive speed had been the cause of the collision and Bridgman is facing charges of negligent driving as well as third-degree driving while license suspended.

Toledo man referred for hi-and-run
A Toledo man has been referred for charges after allegedly vandalizing his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle July 8, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim said the 21-year-old suspect had been with her at what was described as a “primitive camping ground” on Spencer Rd. near Brim Rd. when he allegedly struck the victim’s 1999 Jeep Wrangler with his 1995 Ford F350, then left the scene.
The front license plate from the Ford was recovered at the scene and deputies contacted the suspect later that day, who denied any involvement in the incident. The investigation was described as ongoing, and the suspect was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for a charge of hit-and-run.

Thousands lost in Toledo burglary
A Winlock woman lost thousands in a burglary last week, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.
The 62-year-old victim told deputies July 8 someone had forced entry through a back door at her residence on the 2300 block of Hwy. 603 and stole several cameras, cash and jewelry. The estimated loss is around $3,000.
Crime Stoppers ‘Crime of the Week’
Authorities are seeking help solving a burglary taking place in Packwood back in May.
It is believed sometime between 5 p.m. May 4 and 2 p.m. May 16, an unknown number of suspects forced entry into a pair of cabins on a secured lot at Teal Lake and stole two Stihl chainsaws, a Craftsman tool kit, three five-gallon fuel tanks, two seven-gallon propane tanks, the winch, handlebar bag, tool bag and tool kit off of a Suzuki Ozark 250 quad, several bottles of alcoholic beverages and carried many of the items off in a green wheelbarrow.
