Longview woman survives Toledo wreck

A Longview woman was cited after crashing her car near Toledo Sunday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The 34-year-old driver of a 2002 Honda Oddesy had been traveling on the 200 block of Jackson Hwy. when she swerved to miss an animal in the roadway, first striking a guardrail then crossing the center line and striking a barbed wire fence.

While the vehicle sustained major damage, the driver was uninjured, but received a citation for driving without her registration.

Truck business burgled

A local business was reportedly robbed of cash and a register last week, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

It was reported Jarvis Truck Sales, on the 100 block of Barnes Rd., south of Toledo, had been burgled on or around April 21 when someone forced their way into the building using a pry bar and stole a register containing around $500 cash, as well as 31 feet of battery cable. Authorities are seeking an arrest for burglary, second degree.

Toledo man hit by Packwood burglary

A Toledo man was the victim of a burglary taking place in Packwood sometime earlier in April, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The 40-year-old victim told deputies someone had broken into his detached garage and residence 100 block of Cottonwood Ln., in Packwood, sometime between April 13 and 26. Reported stolen were a 36” Sanyo TV, 3 cordless DeWalt drills, a DVD player and comforter.

The estimated property loss is $570 while damage to the buildings was estimated at around $400.

Crime Stoppers ‘Crime of the Week’

Authorities are seeking help to solve a burglary taking place in Packwood last month.

Sometime between March 5 and 12, an unknown number of suspects broke into a metal storage building on the 100 block of Baker Rd. and stole a DeWalt 14KW portable generator, 25-foot and 50-foot power cords, a new Brushmaster wood chipper and a metal detector, totaling around $4,350 in value.

Those with information are encouraged to contact law enforcement or, to leave an anonymous tip for possible cash reward, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-748-6422.
