During the public comment period, Gerry Amack inquired about the new ATV ordinance.

County Administrator Kathy Spoor reported, “As an FYI, we drafted a proposed ordinance. The sheriff is doing a final review. We hope to have it ready to be published and we are also hoping to have the first public hearing for it in August.”

The public hearing will be held Tuesday, August 12 at 10 a.m.

Five county employees were commemorated for their years of service, including Jared Capps of Dispatch for five years; Shelley Carter of the Health Department for 10 years; Scott Jacot of Juvenile for 15 years; Dawn Lorton as a clerk for 20 years; and Greg Chalker of the Department of Public Works for 20 years.

A draft emergency response plan was approved by the Board as well. The draft is “an internal emergency response plan for county personnel within the county courthouse and the other county buildings,” said Commissioner Frank Wolfe. “We had an incident here last year that kind of pointed out to us that we didn’t have a place to go in case of emergency. We are addressing it and at this point a living document has been drafted.”

The Board also approved a permit for the Finnish American Folk Festival. The festival was held July 25-27 at the Naselle High School.

Courtney Hagain was approved by the Board as the 2014-2015 program year AmeriCorps member for Emergency Management.

The next commissioner's meeting is Tuesday, August 12, at 9 am.
