Tennis Tournament winners announced

Organizers of the Cheese Days Tennis Tournament have announced this years winners, which include players from around the area.

First place in Men’s Doubles were Andy and Ben Kallus, of Centralia, while second place went to Justin Palmer and Daniel Hinkley, of Chehalis.

First place in Women’s Singles was Debbie Moyer, of Chehalis, while second place went to Kathy Frazier, of Centralia.

First Place in Mixed Doubles were Tanya and Doug Bond, of Adna, while second place went to Debbie Moyer, of Chehalis, and Ryan Moody, of Olympia.

It was noted the Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles portions of the tournament had been cancelled.

Winlock Lions Club hosting bingo Wednesday night

The Winlock Lions Club will be hosting a bingo fundraiser this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building featuring a $200 blackout round.

Part of ongoing fundraisers to maintain and improve the Community Building, the evening will feature two $20 large games and several prize rounds.

The Lions are also planning a free Back to School Bingo for kids on Aug. 20 where the prizes will be donated school supplies, and the entry fee will be non-perishable food to benefit the Winlock/Vader Food Bank.

Winlock schools offering free summer meals

The Winlock School District is offering local students free breakfast and lunch now through Aug. 14 through the Simplified Summer Food Program for Children.

Meals are available at no charge to attending children 18 years of age and younger at the Winlock Miller Elementary School cafeteria. Breakfast will be served between 8 and 8:30 a.m., while lunch will be served between 12 and 12:30 p.m.

Castle Rock Library holding book sale

The Friends of the Castle Rock Library will be holding their regular book sale this weekend, and area residents are invited to come and support this vital fundraiser.

Taking place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, the sale will feature a number of books and movies at reasonable prices, all of which are being sold to support the ongoing activities of the Friends program. Hardcover books will be $0.50 each, paperback books will be $0.25 each, children’s books will be as low as $0.10 each, DVDs will be $0.50 each and VHS will be $0.25 each.
