Call for arts and crafts vendors

Ryderwood's Spring Arts & Crafts Fair and Quilt Display is planned for May 15 & 16, with vendors able to sign up for limited spaces at this time. The Arts & Crafts Fair will take place in the two large rooms of Community Hall, while the Quilt Display will be held in Pioneer Hall.

Due to the popularity of the Fair, the number of vendors will be limited to 35 so applications should be submitted quickly. The deadline for all applications is May 8. The cost is $20 for each 6 ft.-by-6 ft. space, table included. Interested vendors should contact Norma at (360) 295-3672 for an application.

Ryderwood is located nine scenic miles west of I-5 via Exit 59 at the end of SR 506. The quaint village is the country's oldest retirement community and is home to some of the finest artists and crafters for miles around.

Lions hosting Winlock Bingo

The Winlock Lions Club will be hosting their monthly Bingo game at the Community Building this Saturday.

Cash prizes will be available, while the kitchen will also be open to provide refreshments. Games begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp, and those with questions may call Club President Jeannie Emmenegger.

Family Discover Day scheduled for Saturday

The local Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be hosting a Family Discovery Day this Saturday for local kids and adults to learn more about their family tree.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., this free event is open to all area residents and will feature staff from the church's Family History Center teaching about genealogy research tools and techniques, while providing access to the church's searchable databases. Bring your laptop or flash drive to save what you find, and help overcome any roadblocks encountered in your own genealogical research.

Families of all ages are welcome, with activities available for young children. For more information, call the Family History Center at (360) 748-1516. The local Stake Center is located at 2195 Jackson Hwy, in Chehalis.

Upcoming Master Gardener classes

Lewis County Master Gardener will be hosting a Spring Grape Care on Friday at 10 a.m. at Borst Demo Garden, in Centralia. Learn how to prune your grapes and what grapes grow well in our climate. Cuttings from the grapes at Borst Demo Garden will be available for all attendees.

Then on March 7, Gardening for Everyone is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Washington Hall in Centralia College. Classes will include Basic Gardening 101, Choosing the Right Tool for the Right Job, Planning a Low Maintenance Perennial Garden, Grapes 101, Organic Gardening, Wild Edibles, Winter Gardening, and Tackling Tough Weeds in the Home Landscape.

Fundraiser for Dayna Hurtado

A spaghetti feed and silent auction fundraiser has been scheduled to benefit community member Dayna Hurtado, who is currently battling cancer.
