on Thursdays from 6-7:50 p.m. The course will run from Nov. 7th through Dec. 5th and will be available concurrently at the Riverview Education Center, 600 Washington Ave., Raymond, and at the Columbia Education Center, 208 Advent Avenue, S.E., Ilwaco. The cost for the course is $34.50 for folks under 55 years of age and $23 for those 55 and older.
This class will focus on the westernmost Chinookan tribes who lived along the lower Columbia River and adjacent sea coast including Willapa Bay. The Chinookan’s long and celebrated history includes significant interactions with early fur traders and the Lewis and Clark scouting party.
Tony Johnson, Cultural Committee Chair for the Chinook Nation and Education Director for the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe, will be teaching this class.
