MOMS

MOMS (Moms Offering Moms Support): We've changed our name to MOMS to reach more moms and kids by offering a time of connecting and encouragement. The journey of parenthood is tough, and sometimes you just really need understanding and support that only comes from the people in the same boat. Our group is blessed to be able to offer in-house childcare for both your littles in the nursery and your older children upstairs with crafts, snacks, bible stories and fun activities! You get to enjoy two hours with a great group of ladies! We eat treats, talk, laugh, share tips of the trade made friends, participate in fun crafts and activities, and support our community. Most importantly we are here for each other on the good days and bad, some days we laugh till we cry or cry till we laugh! Come check it out and leave encouraged and relaxed. MOMS will meet 9-11 am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month during the school year. MOMS and kids meet at Raymond First Baptist Church at 913 Duryea Street. VFW meetings

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pacific Post 968 will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 7:00 p.m. at 308 Commercial St., Raymond.

Bay Center Assn. meeting

The monthly Bay Center Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 6:30 p.m. in the Methodist Church on Second Street in Bay Center. Everyone is welcome.

ABC meeting

Alliance for a Better Community will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11th, at 12:00 noon in the Raymond Community Center on Third St. (next to the Raymond Theatre) in Raymond. All public input is valuable and welcome.

NWH Grange meeting

The North Willapa Harbor Grange #947 will meet Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 7:30 p.m. in the Grange hall, corner of Hwy. 105 and Jacobson Rd.

Friends of Fair meeting

The Pacific County Friends of the Fair will meet Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the Pacific County Fair office at the Menlo fairgrounds. The meeting is open to the public.

Toddler storytime

A program of music, movement and books for toddlers age 0 to 2 and their participating caregivers will be held in the Raymond Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Family Storytime

A program of music, movement, books and activities for the whole family will be held in the Raymond Timberland Library on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Audubon board meeting

The Discovery Coast Audubon Society of Pacific County monthly board meeting will be held Friday, Sept. 13th, at 10:30 a.m. in the P.U.D. auditorium on Sandridge Road, North Long Beach. All are welcome!

Fun Facts

Fun Facts About Northwest Sea Life will be presented at the Raymond Timberland Library on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 11:00 a.m. to noon. You'll be amazed at what you don't know about sea life in our local saltwater environment! For example, did you know sea cucumbers vomit? That sharks have bellybuttons on their necks? Come learn, and see, and touch (!) creatures from our seas! This event is for all ages.

Chinook meeting

The Chinook Indian Nation will be holding its monthly council meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sept. 14th in the Chinook Indian Tribal Office at 3 E. Park St. in Bay Center. Please arrive on time. The meeting is open to all tribal members, and attendees are reminded to bring a potluck item. Contact the Tribal Office at 360-875-6670 if you have any questions.

Oyster Feed

Brady's Oyster Feed will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at 3714 Oyster Place, just off of Hwy. 105.

Golf Tourney

The Water Music Society will be holding its 35 th Anniversary Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14th at the Peninsula Golf Course, 9604 Pacific Way, Long Beach with sign-in at 10:30 a.m. and tee off at 11:00 a.m. Register at the Golf Course Pro Shop. There will be mulligans, contests, raffle and award prizes. All proceeds will go to the music programs in Ocean Beach and Naselle-Grays River School Districts.

Impact on History

The Lewis and Clark National Historical Park at Ft. Clatsop is pleased to announce its next free speaker event. John Colter's Impact On American History by Christopher Hodges will be held Sunday, Sept. 15th at 1:00 p.m.
Private John Colter was a principle hunter and guide for the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery. He was the only soldier in the permanent party to leave the expedition before its conclusion, and he returned to the west five more times. This presentation will include comparisons between Colter and another American explorer, Neil Armstrong, as well as a discussion about America's enthusiasm for exploration.
Christopher B. Hodges is an author of historical fiction with great curiosity regarding how common people become historical figures. For more information call the park at 503-861-2471.

Beekeeping classes

Willapa River Beekeeping Club offers beekeeping classes on the third Sunday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at the Menlo Fire Hall. Register by calling Paul or Gail at (360) 942-5515. Classes for 2019 is on September 15, October 20 and November 17.

Emotional support

Caring for someone with memory loss? Do you need information and support? Alzheimer's Association family caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with memory loss. The next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 16 th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Ocean Park Timberland Library, 1308 256th Place.

Beaded Bookmarks

Create a beautiful beaded bookmark for your favorite book or person on Tuesday, Sept. 17 th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Raymond Timberland Library. This event is for teens and adults.

Elks meeting

Raymond Elks Lodge #1292 will meet Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Raymond Elks Lodge, 326 Third St., Raymond.

Salmon management

The Washington Dept. of Fish & Wildlife will review the Willapa Bay salmon management policy during a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in south regional office at 47 Devonshire Rd. in Montesano from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
At the meetings, state fishery managers will assess the outcomes of the policy, based on relevant data. The workshop includes discussion with Willapa Bay salmon advisors and an opportunity for public comment.
The Willapa Bay policy is designed to help restore natural salmon runs, reduce conflicts between commercial and recreational fisheries in Willapa Bay, and enhance the economic well-being and stability of the recreational and commercial fishing industry in the state.

Ladies Elks meeting

Ladies of the Elks #1292 will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 18th at 5:30 p.m. in the Raymond Elks Lodge in downtown Raymond on Third Street.

WH Hospital Auxiliary

The Willapa Harbor Hospital Auxiliary will meet Wednesday, Sept. 18th at noon in the Willapa Harbor Hospital for lunch with meeting to follow. New members are welcome.

Talk Like A Pirate Day

The Raymond Timberland Library will present Talk Like A Pirate Day on Thursday, Sept. 19 th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Ahoy, maties! All landlubbers are welcome to enjoy the pirate life by eating pirate food, playing pirate games, and making pirate gear. Costumes are optional and heartily welcomed. This event is for all ages.

Who was Chief Seattle?

The Shoalwater Bay Tribal Community Library will host a free public discussion on "Who Was Chief Seattle?" on Saturday, Sept. 21 st at 11:00 a.m. in the Shoalwater Bay Library & Museum, 4115 St. Rt. 105 in Tokeland. David Buerge, a historian to the Duwamish Tribe, will explore the facts and fictions behind this orator, warrior and visionary.

3rd Wurst Party Ever

Steam Donkey Brewing, 101 E. Wishkah St. in Aberdeen will be holding its 3rd annual Oktoberfest party featuring live entertainment, games, beer and food on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. This event is open to the public of all ages and admission is free.

Park Fall Festival

The 10th Annual Lake Sylvia Park Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the park, 1813 Lake Sylvia Rd. North in Montesano. The festival includes trail races for kids and adults, an early morning pancake breakfast, a kayak paddle, a handmade only artists market with 30 artists, live music, food, commercial, educational and non-profit vendors, kids nature crafts and activities and an interesting historic talk by a local wild west author. A free shuttle bus service will be provided every 15 minutes between Simpson Elementary School on Simpson Ave. and the park. Discover Passes are required for parking in the park.
