Mayor Dobosh vetoes; Toledo City County passes police contract

The Toledo City Council has overwritten the veto of Mayor Steve Dobosh in the recent Interlocal agreement between the City of Toledo and the City of Winlock for temporary police services. On Monday, August 15, 2022, Toledo City Council met to approve the Interlocal agreement. In a 5-0 vote, the council voted to have the Winlock Police Department interlocal agreement approved.

The reason for the veto is due to Mayor Dobosh not feeling comfortable with the current costs of the entire police budget. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to the costs and amount of coverage by Winlock, including response times. Toledo City Council wants their own chief, so they have a position for a new chief, but the costs and coverage are what concerns Mayor Dobosh.

126th edition of historic Pacific County Fair opens

MENLO - The 2022 Pacific County Fair is back at full force after two years of limitations because of the pandemic. The Pacific County Fair offers all a chance to relax and enjoy themselves with the theme "HOMEGROWN, HANDMADE & FARM FRESH" opens today at 9:30 this morning and continues through Saturday at the Pacific County Fairgrounds located at 5 Fair Lane off Route 6 in the wholesome little town of Menlo.

There promises to be plenty of authentic displays of artwork, hobbies, bakery, canned food, fruits and vegetables, photography, beautiful flowers, industrial arts, needlework and sewing, a Youth Livestock Auction, more animals, comedians, musical entertainment, great food, several contests, a bungee jump, several bouncy houses, rides, plenty of fun for kids, and much more!
