This coming Monday is Memorial Day, which is to remember those who served in wars, focusing on the men of the Vietnam war. Winlock and Toledo lost men in this war, a tragedy so many should never have to endure.
Thursday night, May 12, was the Annual Big Toledo Meeting at the Toledo High School Commons. This is an event where every volunteer group has an update as to what they are doing and what the citizens can expect to see. The most amazing part is, there are several groups. There is a group for just about everything. If you live in Toledo, you can do just about anything and others will help. Toledo has a real sense of what a community is and what a community should be.
This year there is a popup event in the Tokeland North Cove event on Saturday, May 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A few local art studios will throw open their doors and let the public inside.
Due to now having enough vendors and artists willing to host visitors this year, the Tokeland North Cove Chamber of Commerce canceled their art tour and auction much to their disappointment.
The Curtis family teamed up at Fern Hill Cemetery to clean gravesites while remembering their loved ones for Memorial Day. They were four of an estimated three dozen people at Fern Hill the morning of May 22.
