Inslee defends his authority to make changes to the long-term care premiums

Gov. Jay Inslee issued a statement last Thursday on his authority to make changes to the long-term care premiums set to begin collections on January 1.

Below is the governor's statement.

"There seems to be some inaccurate reporting and misinformation about the Legislature's long-term care bill, which under the law requires employers to withhold money from employee wages.

Changes at the Church of Latter-day Saints

The Centralia Washington Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which serves Lewis County and a portion of southern Thurston County, held a special Stake Conference on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at their Stake Center on Jackson Highway in Chehalis. Over 1,000 members were in attendance.

Nancy Sobolesky passed after a hard-fought battle

We had planned on doing an update on Nancy Sobolesky's journey, but unfortunately, she passed away on Christmas day. So instead, we are paying tribute to a lady who fought a hard battle for many months. She was loved by her family and friends. She received so many cards from the community, she was part of Winlock just as her husband Marv has been.

Marv was open about discussing her journey with us, it is the hope that the journey she had will help at least one person if they see these types of health issues.

Raymond receives grant to work on Willapa Place Way
Raymond receives grant to work on Willapa Place Way

The City of Raymond has been awarded a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grant for $1,172,612 to reconstruct Willapa Place Way, which is the loop from SR101 to SR101 going past McDonalds.

This is the road that runs between SR101 and the Thriftway parking lot. During the rainy season, the entrances to Willapa Place Way is often covered with flood water. It is also full of bumps and potholes.
