There were a total of 475 coronavirus cases and 0 deaths confirmed in Washington through mid-afternoon Saturday, bringing the total number of diagnoses to 93,035, including 2,190 deaths, according to the state Department of Health. At least 7,786 people have been hospitalized in the state due to the virus. State health officials confirmed 642 new COVID-19 cases in Washington on Friday in addition to seven new deaths.

Gov. Jay Inslee Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 6) loosened restrictions on a range of businesses and activities, from movie theaters to restaurants to outdoor sports, under his four-part coronavirus reopening plan. The move came after Washington this summer stopped counties from advancing to further stages of reopening under that plan.

In a news conference, Inslee said he wasn't resuming those county-by-county reopenings, but described Tuesday's measures as "targeted things to show how we can do this in a safe way" amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, October 14, people signed up for reverse 911 should get a message announcing that on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. Pacific County will participate in the largest earthquake drill in the nation: The Great ShakeOut.

Earthquakes can happen anywhere, so everyone should know how to protect themselves when an earthquake occurs. Coastal earthquakes can be followed by tsunamis - which is why the Great Washington ShakeOut includes a tsunami drill.

A total of 17 Positive COVID-19 cases were discovered in Pacific County last week.

On Monday, October 5 the Pacific County Health and Human Services received notice of three positive cases. These were in addition to the 88 previously reported cases. All three cases are between 70-80 years old and are isolating at home. Case investigations concluded that these cases are the result of two separate and small social gatherings (less than ten individuals).

On Friday, October 9, testing results came back with eight more positive cases, who are isolating at home.

Unfortunately during a pandemic trick or treating is very difficult to pull off safely. Many of the activities that are commonly held during Halloween may have to be postponed until next year.

"We are not canceling Halloween," said Pacific County Health Department's Stephanie Michael. "We are not trying to kill all the fun, but it is important to maintain safety measures." The CDC and Washington State Health Department has put out a list of safety guidelines to keep kids safe and to protect others during Halloween.
