Napavine Football Team Places 2nd in State Championship

On November 31 anticipation filled the Napavine football players on their bus ride to the Tacoma Dome. Their worthy rival, Kalama would be a tough team to play. The seniors had high expectations of themselves, Benjamin Woodrum's hands were shaking in the midst of his classes at the high school. The freshmen were eager to see what it would be like, their first year in high school and already visiting the Tacoma Dome.

Winlock City Council clashes with Winlock Mayor

On November 26, 2018, at the regular scheduled Winlock City Council meeting, Mayor Don Bradshaw walked out of the meeting over the amendments to the agenda which included adding back in public comments. City Hall had removed the ability for the public to comment. The tension came from a variance granted to Desarno's Treasures at the previous Winlock City Council meeting. At that meeting, Desarno's Treasures was given 14 days to pay to have her water meter connected or her building would be red tagged and she would not have been allowed to enter to retrieve her goods.

Monday traffic in Pacific county got off to a slippery start with numerous crashes happening during the morning commute. Temperatures overnight dipped into the high 20's to low 30's that caused roadways to be covered with ice.

Nissell Toy Drive in third year

The Derik Nissell Toy Drive is now in its third year and continues not only his devotion to the toy drive, but also brings along his spirit for the holiday. His belief was, "each child should have a new toy to open on Christmas Day." The drive continues his belief thanks to the continuous devotion of many who feel the same and because of that donations continue to pour in.
