Napavine hires Officer Dawes

On October 25 the City of Napavine swore in their new police officer known to many in the area. Officer Steve Dawes was hired by the City of Napavine after being in Toledo, Tenino and with the interlocal agreement between Winlock and Toledo.

Per Chief Chris Salyers, "We are happy to have officer Steve Dawes join our team in Napavine. He comes with many years of experience and will be an asset to the city. He will be here to help the citizens of Napavine and to assist in investigative work as well."

Amber Norman, daughter of Kimberly Ann (Carrillo) and Fred Terry's sat down to talk about her mom and what a great mom and nana she was. Kimberly lost her battle to cancer on September 12, 2018 surrounded by family with her husband holding her hand.

Pluvius Shooting; two deputies and an officer hailed as heroes

Nearly three months after the violent home invasion that took place just outside Pe Ell on July 12 there are still few answers as to what happened or why. The Herald through investigative reporting has been able to uncover some details that add to the lingering questions but also discovered unknown bravery on that fateful night.

Seagulls run wild in romp over Indians; Edwards nets 217 yds

Raymond amassed 485 yards rushing and the Seagull defense intercepted 5 passes during a 57-14 rout of rival South Bend during Seagull Homecoming Friday night. Patrick Edwards racked up 217 yards rushing on 15 carries and he tallied and 3 touchdowns, and McCartney Maden galloped for another 145 yds running the ball on just 7 totes, and he crossed the goal line 3 times (2 rushing, 1 pass receiving). Joseph Villalpando collected 3 INTs and recovered a fumble.

Timberland Regional Library proposes consolidation of Raymond and South Bend libraries

On Wednesday, September 26 several cities in Pacific and Grays Harbor Counties got the shock of the year when they learned that Timberland Regional Library (TRL) is looking to close libraries. Four locations are proposed for closure in Grays Harbor and one in Pacific County. The hit wouldn't have been so shocking had TRL been up front with their plans during the most recent city council meeting in South Bend.
