Mrs. Suzanne Croy has been a secretary registrar at Toledo High School (THS) for 9 years. She substituted for 2 years at Toledo Middle School (TMS) for K Lyon as a secretary. She says the best parts of her of her job are "working with the kids," "I like the diversity of the job," and "I get to talk to the kids and work with them." Everyday during her job she has a bright smile which shows she enjoys her job.
Bjorn Roth is just two years old, born on May 16, 2016 and he has already been through more than most of us will endure in our lifetime.
The 2018 Winlock Saturday Market & Swap Meet will end on September 29 with Customer Appreciation and Kids Day. There will be games, face and rock painting and balloons by Mrs. Twister from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Kids get free booth space (no adult items please) to sell their toys, games and clothes. An adult must be present with the child. Just show up with their stuff, tables and canopies at 9:00 a.m. and be ready to sell when the market opens at 10:00 a.m. There will be free cookies and drinks, and a free raffle. Other vendors are also welcome. It will be the best Market yet!
The last few weeks HAVA has seen a major show of support as locals from all over the area are reaching out with donations to help the non-profit stay-a-float. The past year HAVA has seen one of their worst years on record with non-stop medical bills for sick animals and a lack of donations compared to previous years.

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has closed all fishing in Willapa Bay and its tributaries including the Willapa River. The closure went into effect at midnight on Friday, September 21 and includes all salmon species until further notice.
Fish and Wildlife initially considered only shutting off Chinook retention and leaving the Coho fishery open, but the department decided to take no chances. They're hoping the closure will allow more fish to reach the gravel and hatchery, calling it "incredibly precious" that they get that far up. "We've got a significant issue with Chinook," Chad Herring from WDFW said. "While people would be out fishing for Coho there would be encounters in the marine area and more importantly the freshwaters and that would have a resulting impact."
