Walking into Great Northwest Federal Credit Union, among several other places, you can often see handmade wooden cars on the counter. The mystery behind the cars will lead you to a local craftsman by the name of Bob Fehrenbach who builds them to bring joy to children.
"I just can't get ahead," Fehrenbach said. "I just finished making 104 for the kindergarteners at Raymond, South Bend, and Valley. I made them kits that they have to put together themselves and sign when their done."
Tuesday, April 10 the Tsunami Roadshow came into Raymond and stopped at the Raymond Timberland Library to inform citizens about the risk of a major earthquake and tsunami. A crowd of around 50 residents from all over Northern Pacific County attended.
Behind the scenes of every 911 call are the 911 Operators that make every emergency response possible and get help to residents in their most desperate and helpless time of need.
"We couldn't function without them," Sheriff Scott Johnson said. "They're a very important part of the wheel up here. And we're very lucky to keep them here locally. At one time we were looking at possibly having to close down our 911 Center and contract with another county. Luckily, that never happened."
PacCom has twelve 911 Operators who work varying shifts, but every minute of everyday the call center is staffed. They're determined to do everything they can to get you help. They come from varying backgrounds with one leaving nursing to become a operator to others who have worked there for over 10 years.
