An important vote on April 24th: South Bend's new elementary school opportunity

When I was hired as superintendent almost four years ago, one of the questions being asked was how the district might move forward on addressing the Chauncey Davis elementary building. Even though the district maintains its buildings and grounds well, it's a challenge to expect an elementary school approaching 70 years of age to meet the safety and learning needs of our students. Knowing this, the school board and I began looking into possibilities.

Mass transit need in south Lewis County

The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners are working on a countywide transportation plan that will open up south Lewis County for transportation to Centralia and Chehalis along with providing services for east County. Currently Twin Transit only operates in the Centralia/Chehalis area. Lewis Mountain Transit currently operates in east Lewis County but there is nothing in the way of transportation for south Lewis County.

On March 16, the Napavine FFA hosted a petting zoo. Children from the Napavine elementary were welcomed over. Napavine middle school and high school students were also able to visit the zoo.

This last week was abuzz with Business Week occurring in downtown Raymond. Juniors from all three high schools participated in a week-long Business Week series sponsored by many local businesses and the GEAR UP Program.

Lady Gulls sweep NB, lose twice vs Ocosta

Raymond smashed North Beach twice and then had the tables turned when Ocosta whipped the Lady Seagulls twice in fastpitch softball doubleheaders last week.

Last Wednesday (March 28) at North Beach, Raymond stomped the Lady Hyaks 15-5 and 17-6.

Nogueira is a University of Washington Law School Graduate and currently practices law at Ingram, Zelasko & Goodwin LLP in Aberdeen.
