Dear Savvy Senior,
For the last six months or so, I've been having problems with my hips and legs cramping when I walk, although they feel better once I stop. I thought it was just because I'm getting old, but my friend was telling me about a leg vein disease called PAD and thinks I may have it. What can you tell me about this condition?

Derik S. Nissell, a local resident who graduated from South Bend High School, was in his mid-twenties when his untimely death on February 29, 2016, sent a shockwave throughout the community of South Bend.
Nissell's obituary recalls that "Derik had a kind soul and would be there for anyone who needed his help," and it's this characteristic of Nissell that has inspired a new charitable event in the form of the Derik Nissell Toy Drive, which strives to spread the spirit of care that Nissell himself exemplified.
