SOUTH BEND - Robert Anthony Merrill, 52, of Long Beach made his reappearance in Pacific County Superior Court Friday afternoon after being apprehended in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, earlier last week and transported to Washington by the Federal Marshal's Service. Merrill, who was initially charged with delivery of heroin along with other drug related offenses, was released on $250,000 bond and approved to travel to California to be admitted to an in-patient drug treatment facility.
"Despite our objection, Mr. Merrill's defense attorney successfully convinced the court that he would return for trial while attending treatment, but that did not occur," Pacific County Prosecutor Mark McClain told the Herald.
