April 29: Celebrate International Table Games Day at Raymond First Baptist Church, 913 Duryea Street on Saturday, April 29, from 1-4 p.m. Bring your favorite game or use the games there. Refreshments provided.

2nd Wednesdays: Alliance for a Better Community meetings are the second Wednesday of each month, at noon, at Liang's restaurant. Public is always welcome.

VFW Pacific Post 968 is holding regular monthly meetings every second Wednesday. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. and are held at 221 Duryea Street in Raymond.

Funeral home under new ownership

Cattermole Funeral Home's new owner as of January 1 of this year is Jeff Dorothy, a lifetime resident of Winlock. He is the son of Dick and Delores Dorothy. He lives with Michaelea Gottschalk and has three children, Angel, Jessica, and Leah, and four grandchildren. Jeff was graduated from Mt. St. Helens High School in 1980 and soon began acquiring his knowledge and experience in the funeral business by working for Brown's Funeral Home.

Winlock students make D.C. trip

Students at the Winlock middle and high schools were given the chance to learn history using a more visual approach during their 2017 spring break. On April 3, eleven Winlock students left to visit the nation's capital, as well as areas of Virginia.

Burglary cases spotlighted in Superior Court

SOUTH BEND - Amanda Ann Hanson, 26, of Westport entered guilty pleas for attempting to elude a police vehicle, driving under the influence, escape in the second degree, residential burglary, and theft of a motor vehicle, and was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

Raymond traffic roundabout gets green light for summer

The Washington State Department of Transportation is moving forward with a plan to install a roundabout at the intersection of US 101 and State Route 6. The project will be opened for bids this May with construction set to take place this summer.

Steele steps down from theatre management position

Raymond Theatre Manager Anne Steele presented the Raymond City Council with a letter of resignation on April 17. City and theatre officials indicated they would use the changeover as an opportunity to reconfigure the position with an eye toward hopefully making the cash-strapped theatre financially self-sufficient.
