Mark A. Wakefield has been arraigned in Grays Harbor Superior Court on the charge of Child Rape. Bail was set at $100,000.

The Coastal Harvest Dinner in Seabrook is slated for Friday, September 9, Seabrook will host Coastal Harvest at the Town Hall for the 2016 annual fund raising dinner featuring a local-themed menu created - and mostly grown - by Rob Paylor of Mill 109 Restaurant & Pub.

Prosecutors have charged two residents of Montesano with reckless endangerment after a 4 year old boy was tossed from a bridge into the Wynoochee River last week in Montesano. There is footage taken on a cell phone that depicts the boy being thrown off a bridge by a man that is unidentified in the video, into the river below. Witnesses report that the mother of the child was onlooking. A friend of the child's parents called 911.

On 8-29-16 about 1339 hours, Aberdeen Police were dispatched to 7-Eleven on Market Street for a male suspect pulling down his pants in the parking area and scaring children. The reporting party stated that the suspect was a Native American male wearing a red jacket and sweat pants. While enroute, dispatch advised that the suspect was walking away down B Street.

The City of Aberdeen received a call from an Aberdeen resident who wanted to report a suspicious call as follows:

I just took a phone call from Ms. Andrea Moeun, an Aberdeen resident.

The Grays Harbor Public Utility District is notifying customers in Montesano of a planned power outage beginning at 10:00 PM on September 8. The outage is expected to last until roughly 6:00 AM and will impact around 75 customers.

PORTER - Drivers who use US 12 south of Elma in Grays Harbor County should prepare for lane closures along a small stretch of the highway near Porter.

Aberdeen Officers responded on Monday, August 29 to the Franz Bakery for a shoplift in progress. Dispatch advised that a white female with an orange jacket and black pants put items in her pocket and left in a black Mazda.

Effective 5:00 P.M., September 2, 2016, Lewis County Board of County Commissioners and Lewis County Fire Marshal have modified the current burn ban on outdoor burning for all of unincorporated Lewis County.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office's chief civil deputy is moving up, taking a position as Chief of Police Services at Evergreen State College.

Sheriff John Snaza has been recovering well and has now been moved out of intensive care and into the general recovery floor. Last Monday, he was taken off of a respiratory assisting machine and spoke on his own. He was upgraded from critical to serious and will remain hospitalized until he is in good condition.

With high expectations always looming over the Indians, a 35-7 season opening win is no disappointment. Ted Hippi was rocking as usual. The cheerleaders held their sign, always filled with satire. For the opener, the sign read "Hey Charles Wright, your mom called. You left your GAME at home." The Indians seem to feed off all the positivity from their home crowd, and their record sure shows it. Toledo has not lost a home game since 2013. With the win over Charles Wright, they are now 10-0 at home since 2014.

The following measures have qualified and been certified by the State to appear on the 2016 General Election ballot. Also on the ballot will be local propositions submitted to the qualified electors in their district.

2B action was slightly crazy on opening weekend. The biggest upset according to rankings was Adna taking down PWV 23-6. PWV was ranked #2 in the state. #1 Napavine handled Raymond 47-13 and should maintain their status as #1. Lind/Ritzville-Sprague, ranked #3, lost to Asotin 27-0. Asotin was ranked #5. Kalama, ranked #10, fell to Woodland 43-15. The new top ten goes as such: Napavine, Asotin, Northwest Christian (Colbert), Adna, Toledo, Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, Davenport, Lind/Ritzville-Sprague, Morton-White Pass, Liberty (Spangle). Adna had the biggest jump. Last week, they had no votes, now they are #4. LaConner, Orcas Island/Lopez, and Kalama are on the outside looking in.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is easing restrictions on campfires for parks in western Washington and ocean beaches in the Seashore Conservation Area, effective immediately. Western Washington is considered the region west of the crest of the Cascade Mountain range.

The Raymond Public Works Department is out repairing Duryea Street, between the highway and Fifth Street and the project is scheduled to have begun on September 6, and the crew has a period of forty days to complete the project. Public Works Administrative Assistant Scot Pearson maintains that the crew could be granted more time if it is mutually agreed on by the city that it would be a sensible move to make.

SOUTH BEND - Following two days of testimony and three hours of deliberations last Wednesday, a Pacific County jury found Melissa R. Hurley, 35, of Menlo, guilty of theft in the first degree with aggravating factors and identity theft in the first degree with aggravating factors.

The Raymond Police Department held a K9 demonstration for Ciko where they demonstrated the abilities and different applications in situations that the police dog can be used for. The police officer that was demonstrating made motions for the dog to hold onto a toy or practice dummy.
