"Through the Years" Grays Harbor County Fair

It's that time of the year again, County Fair time! This years Grays Harbor County Fair's theme is "Through the years". As always there will be fun for the whole family. There are some great special events like the Berry Baking Contest, the Flippin' 50's Hot Dog Eating Contest, pie eating contest, and the car races.

Grays Harbor contract negotiations halted

Labor negotiations have stalled at Grays Harbor Community Hospital as workers seek a commitment from the administration for competitive wage and benefit packages that they say would further the recruitment and retention of skilled medical workers. A fact sheet provided by one union member says union leadership has told workers that hospital negotiators proposed a 3.5 percent wage increase over the next three years and want workers to pay higher out of pocket expenses for benefits.

Kids Kloset Program aids children in need of new school clothes

In 1989, a program called the Kids Kloset was begun in order to help kids in poverty be able to have new school clothing. School supplies like notebooks, pencils, and paper are also handed out. Saturday, the program will have its annual distribution day.

Chehalis Fire Department Chief Ken Cardinale said they are looking at a malfunction of the hay baler as causing the fire that burned through acres of fields yesterday along Rice Road in south Chehalis.

Three vehicles were totaled in a multiple-vehicle rear-end chain reaction collision that sent seven people to the hospital this afternoon on U.S. Highway 12 about two miles east of Interstate 5 on Sunday August 7.

SW Washington Fair set to kick off next week

The annual Southwest Washington Fair is set to begin on Tuesday, August 16 with gates opening at 10 am. The carnival will begin at 11 am. Gates will be open from 10 am every day of the fair, which is Tuesday through Sunday. The carnival will open every day at 11 am and will close each night when the fair closes. On Sunday, the fair will close early at 7 pm for tear down.

Favre sentenced in spanking case

Alexander H. Favre, 29, of Grayland, pleaded guilty to third degree assault of a child and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Favre will be prohibited from having any contact with the child for five years. The action took place in Pacific County Superior Court Friday afternoon.

Pacific County Election Results

The August 2, 2016 Primary Election results are not yet certified, but the preliminary results are below. There are 39 Precincts in Pacific County with a total of 13, 627 registered voters. 5, 938 ballots have been counted with an estimated 100 ballots left to count.

Shoreline Management Plan detailed at South Bend Meeting

The South Bend City Council met for their regular bi-monthly council meeting, on Monday, August 8, Mayor Julie Struck called the meeting to order and lead with the pledge of allegiance.

After the council approved the consent agenda for the current meeting they approved the minutes of the previous meeting before introducing John Kliem from Creative Community Solutions, who worked on the Shoreline Management Plan, along with the Planning Commission.
