Representatives from emergency response, medical, government and police agencies met Wednesday to begin the planning process for an anticipated earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, predicted to cause catastrophic damage along the West Coast.

Five Volunteers Complete Training at Raymond Fire Department

The Raymond City Council met for the bi-monthly council meeting where several council members were absent including: Colby Rogers, Dee Roberts, Kaley Hanson and Police Chief Chuck Spoor. Mayor Dunsmoor started the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and then lead with items from the public, where Bud of the skatepark spoke:

Sheriff Johnson discusses budget, PCEM, Legislature

SOUTH BEND - Pacific County Sheriff Scott Johnson graciously accepted to do a lengthy interview with the Willapa Harbor Herald. Johnson, who graduated from South Bend High School in 1980, is also a graduate of the Washington State Sheriff's School in 2010, the National Sheriff's Institute, in Aurora, Colo., the Rural Executive Management Institute, in Denver, Colo., the University of Arkansas Mid + Executive Police Management in Little Rock Arkansas, the Washington State Patrol Trooper Basic, Shelton, Wash., 1982, and the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission Reserve Academy of 1982.

On Saturday June 11, 2016 a South Bend Dairy truck caught fire on South bound I-5 at mile marker 76. The driver had just entered on to the freeway at exit 77 when this reporter and husband entered directly behind the truck.

Welch jailed 2 years, 5 months for motor theft

Colton W. Welch, 27, of Westport pleaded guilty to taking a motor vehicle without permission and was sentenced to 2 years and 5 months in prison. Welch had nine previous felony convictions.
