Talley's Folly auditions will be held Monday May 23 and Tuesday May 24 at 6:30 PM at the Driftwood Theatre at 120 East Third Street in Aberdeen. The director is looking for two people; a man and woman in their 30's or 40's. Rehearsals will begin in May and continue through July with the show opening on Friday, July 8th. Heather Seay of Winlock (daughter of Ron & Kathy Heikkila) completed the Tacoma City Half Marathon (13.44 miles) on May 1. Two weeks later, on May 15, she completed the Capital City Marathon (26.2 miles) in Olympia.

Toledo already had the leg up on Adna this season, sweeping them in their earlier series. The defending 2B state champion Adna Pirates were hammered by the Indian bats at the beginning. Adna starter Wesley Wilson threw 29 pitches in only a third of an inning while giving up three runs. The Indians made four pitching changes during the game, with Connor Vermilyea on the book ends of the rotations. Vermilyea started for the Indians, and also recorded the save.

Throughout the district tournament, it was evident United was out to win the trophy at the end. The trophy, though, was left at Montesano High School before the district championship game. The trophy will be given to United in the weeks to come, and the schools will have a ceremony to honor the team.

When I look at a chuck wagon, I see much more than just a wagon. Sure it was used as a range kitchen, for all the meals, coffee and biscuits for breakfast, beans, biscuits, meat, cobbler and coffee for supper. There was always a pot of strong coffee brewing when the chuck wagon was set up. But the chuck wagon was so much more to the cowhands far from home. While the cowhands were responsible for moving the herd, "Cookie" and his chuck wagon were responsible for moving the cowhands. The trail boss was officially in charge but it was "Cookie" who was always respected, never talked back to and issued most of the orders. After all, he not only fed you but also mended your clothes, had the medical supplies, moved your bedroll and belongings to the next camp, provided the entertainment, provided a place to wash up and shave and, most importantly, always had that pot of coffee going to rinse the trail dust from your throat. On a special occasion, "Cookie" might even break out a jug for a little nip of whiskey. Yea, you never wanted to be on the wrong side of Ole Cookie!

SOUTH BEND - Saky Hondamhack, 36, of Raymond entered a guilty plea to residential burglary and two counts of third degree assault with sexual motivation. The action took place Friday at Pacific County Superior Court.

Raymond officers responded to a suspicious persons call and determined Hondamhack had entered a residence while the homeowners were away in order to masturbate.

The Pacific County PUD met on Tuesday, May 3 for their regular bi-monthly meeting. This particular meeting was held at the Willapa Operations Center and was started as usual with the pledge of allegiance.

George Crow of Raymond High School went to power lifting state and took second place. The lifts were squat, bench and dead lift and Crow lifted 450 pounds, 310 pounds and 505 pounds respectively.

Residents of the Pacific Northwest (PNW) responded overwhelmingly to the most recent DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. On April 30, 2016, in a four hour period, residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska combined, turned in 31,872 pounds (16 tons) of unwanted or expired medications for safe and proper disposal at the 168 take-back sites.
