The Representatives of the 19th District in Washington have just recently held a telephone-town hall on Thursday, January 14 where Senator Dean Takko, Representative Brian Blake and Representative J.D. Rossetti heard feedback directly from citizens within the 19th Legislative District about their ideas and comments.

The Raymond Education Association would like to ask the voters in the Raymond School District to support the proposed 2016 Replacement Levy that is being placed on the ballot. This proposed levy is not a request to approve a new tax. It is a request to continue the existing support that we already receive.

A Sea Lion had managed to get into downtown Raymond on Thursday, January 14 around 6:20 pm. The Raymond Police Department and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife responded and were able to cage the animal and take it back to it's place of origin.
Raymond suffered two Pacific League losses after succumbing to Ocosta and Chief Leschi last week.

The Raymond school levy is coming up for renewal soon. I would like to ask the citizens of Raymond to support our children by voting for the replacement levy. A yes vote would not raise your taxes; it only continues the current tax.
The Rain Derby is over and the winner was Gina Wilson who guessed there would be 80.01 inches of rain in 2015. The actual total amount was 83.01. She won $1000 and missed the $5000 prize because she did not have the December total correct. She missed the December total by 6 inches. The next closest winners all had 83.00 inches. This was the closest results we have ever had.
Lori Snodgrass has been invited by the Washington State Coaches' Association to coach at the All-State Volleyball game held in Auburn on March 12th.
Willapa Valley clubbed Northwest Christian 77-35 at Tenoski Gym in Menlo Friday night. Jason Fluke pumped in a game-high 20 points and Walker Oblad was down for 15 points for the Vikings.
Willapa threw up 71 shots, and connected on 25 for 35%. The Vikes were only 15 of 28 at the foul stripe. Christian shot 28% on 15 of 53. The Navigators attempted 5 free throws and made two of them.

As a bus driver at Willapa Valley for 21 years, I see every day the impact the classified staff has on the safety, security, and education that Willapa Valley students receive. The upcoming replacement levy will insure that we can continue to offer the same great family environment that all students get to experience. Besides the educational programs offered in the school, this levy also helps support our food service, para-educators, transportation, custodians/maintenance, and secretaries.
Willapa Valley Principal Nancy Morris was selected to join a group of 25 principals from around the state to share creative strategies, best practices, and leadership trends that helped them rise to the top of their professions. The two day summit, sponsored by the Association of Washington School Principals, was held at the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie.
The Willapa Harbor Wrestling Team went to Napavine Saturday and took second place to Adna of 18 varsity/junior varsity teams.

We, the members of the Willapa Valley Education Association, are strongly urging folks to vote "yes" in support of the Willapa Valley Replacement Levy. As the ballot arrives in mailboxes, we hope people will keep in mind the infrastructure, services, and supplies that this levy allows us to use for students' benefit from preschool through 12th grade.
