Cause of brewery blaze still unknown
Photo by Patrick L. Myers - Just before Thanksgiving the Bogwater Brewery/Cranberry Road Winery went up in flames. The storms this winter have caused more damage to the burned building.
Cause of brewery blaze still unknown

The Bogwater Brewery and Cranberry Road Winery were found to be engulfed in flames on the evening of Tuesday, November 24. The fire cleared the inside of the building out, and caused considerable damage to the structure of the building. By the time the Grays Harbor Emergency Dispatch was notified at around 6pm, the building was already up in flames.

As I was thinking about the news to write today, I remembered the day I went from Santa Ana, CA to Hollywood, CA to take an exam to qualify for the service. I had received a letter from the government that stated "My friends and neighbors had selected me to represent them in the Army." After we had our physicals we decided to go to a radio show that was being recorded near the clinic. I was selected as a contestant. I had answered two questions and for my final question I was asked what the origin of the word NEWS came from. I attempted to talk all around the subject but didn't say anything the host would accept. He told me the word was from the four directions of the compass N E W S! I had won $65 dollars which was enough to pay the college and get my diploma!

GHC offering BA degree soon

Grays Harbor College just received approval from the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management degree, which is planned to start in Fall 2016. This will be the first four-year degree that GHC will offer and will be taught by current full time College faculty, and adjunct faculty who meet qualifications of the accreditation commission.

New gaming floor opens at Lucky Eagle Casino

Rochester - Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel opened a dramatic 16,000 square foot expansion to its gaming floor on Dec. 30, in time to celebrate New Year's Eve.
Casino visitors were greeted by hundreds of slot machines in the new gaming area, part of a major expansion project that began in February 2015 and is being rolled out in phases. When phase one of the casino expansion is completed in January, visitors will enjoy a new sports bar & grill, increased meeting and entertainment space, and a new player's club lounge.

Vehicle over train tracks cause car derailment

MONTESANO - Six cars of a freight train came off the tracks at the Old Beacon Road intersection in Montesano Monday night December 28. The train had to make an emergency stop East of Montesano because of a pickup parked on the tracks.
