Mayor Candidates Discuss the Issues at the DNR Theater

The D&R Theater opened last Thursday night to a crowd of about 200 while hosting the 2015 mayoral debate and forum. On the stage were 2 mayoral candidates for each Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Additionally, there were 3 local newsmen who ran the show as the acting commentators. The forum began promptly at 8:00 pm and ran for a little over 1½ hours. Running for the seat in Aberdeen were Jack Micheau and Erik Larson and for Hoquiam were Jasmine Dickhoff and incumbent Jack Durney.

New building on campus

The Grays Harbor College has just moved in to utilize their new Schermer building for the Fall quarter. The building was built in honor of the former chemistry teacher and administrator Gene Schermer.

Swanson's celebrates 110 years of service

Swanson's has catered to the area for a century, and is working on it's next. Swanson's foods has been in business for a sure 110 years, since 1905, when Mr. C. O. Swanson served the needs of the people of Grays Harbor in the 20th Century, and then handed the business down to his sons Chuck and Carl when it was time. Chuck and Carl assumed the business in the 1930's. It was Chuck and Carl that built Swanson's Foods into three full service supermarkets, catering to the South side of Aberdeen, the Simpson Avenue downtown of Aberdeen and Hoquiam.
