Castle Rock awards bid for city-wide overlay project

The Castle Rock City Council has approved a contractor to implement a city-wide paving project, which officials expect to be completed around the end of September.

A low bid from Lakeside Industries, based in Longview, of $700,745 was approved unanimously during the council's July 28 meeting, and was among two total bids received, the other coming from Vancouver-based Granite Constriction for $777,077.

County asking Winlock for sale of park property

Lewis County has approached the City of Winlock to potentially purchase city-owned property along Hwy 603 to assist in the completion of an expansion project expected to begin next year.

Discussed during the July 28 Winlock City Council meeting, officials were informed Lewis County plans to improve a 1.7-mile section of Hwy. 603, starting at the northern city limits, and is interested in purchasing an undeveloped section of Winolequa Park located between the highway and the railroad tracks, away from current park facilities.

Winlock strikes deal for break on abandoned hookups

The Winlock City Council has approved policies that could cut local sewer/water customers a break related to abandoned hookups and late payments.

Discussed during the July 28 council meeting, officials approved an ordinance allowing those with hookups that are currently abandoned to restore service at a rate significantly reduced from the cost for a new sewer/water connection.
