Social services — at best, a moving target. And not only the times are changing, but so are legislative decisions, budgets, populations and anything else capable of being changed. Generally, that means that what we used to do, we still do. There’s just more of it and the service net has grown wider.

You pay your fair share of taxes. Small businesses do too. It’s the price we pay to educate our kids, protect our communities and have some security in retirement. Why shouldn’t some of America’s largest corporations pay their fair share too?

On April 11th, the Raymond High School Leadership Class spent the day at the Chehalis food bank and coalition. They packed, sorted, and weighed food as well as helped to distribute food to clients. Shown are the students, along with other food bank managers and volunteers. On May 9th, the same group of students is hosting a high school Lock In. Raymond, Valley, South Bend, and Naselle students are all invited. It begins at 6 pm, May 9th, and goes until 7 am, May 10th. It takes place at Raymond High School; the entry is $5. There will be many activities for all to enjoy throughout the event. All proceeds go to the Willapa Harbor Helping Hands and the victims of the Oso landslide.
