SOUTH BEND - In 2004, South Bend High School graduate Evin Bodle was off and running in the 4x400 relay at the Washington State Track and Field Championships in Eastern Washington. Bodle, running the anchor position, in the final competition of the day, overcame a 30-yard distance to chase down an Odessa runner at the finish line helping the Indians to a sixth place relay finish and a tie with Kittitas taking first place for 2B schools and the state title. The South Bend school had delivered their second state finish since 1963. Bodle had earlier finished second in his two sprint races contributing 36-points for the state competition.

Marlene Grace Maggard, a longtime Raymond, resident died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Hoquiam, Washington; she was 88. She was born in Hackers Valley, West Virginia March 19, 1925 to Risty Reed and Esta L. (Collins) Pugh.
