SOUTH BEND – Last we heard the 101 Public House was just opening and was getting ready for their first season in South Bend. With the recent expansion to their dinning room and the concentration of the gift shop up front, the 101 Public House is looking more like the community living room that owners Russ and Aimee Ward are hoping to create.

Community Announcements 12.04.13

A new record of $1,700 was raised by the Winlock Timberland Library last week at the close of their annual silent auction on Wednesday afternoon.

Held to support the activities of the Friends of the Winlock Library, Library Manager Jamie Allwine said the auction’s total could continue to grow as patrons include donations with their payments for auction items.

Holiday cheer is everywhere you look these days. Thanks to all the homeowners and volunteers who work so hard to make our little Town look so festive at this time of year. It’s a good thing that most of the outside work got done before the Deep Freeze arrived this week!

I’ve overheard more than one person mention that they don’t have gloves or socks that are warm enough. It reminded me that I discovered silk liners years ago, so I have some on order. Looks like they’ll arrive just in time.

Friends of the Toledo Library reports: just over 65% carried Toledo’s annexation vote, qualifying city residents for a library card. TRL plans to present their Service Point Analysis of Caldwell’s building to facilities committee in January 2014. Friends should meet soon to choose team leader for future interactions with TRL. Well, my Thanksgiving was great, and I’d like to thank JoAnn and Mike Porter once again for having my entire family and I join their holiday celebration. You’re the best.

The Olequa Senior Center will be hosting their monthly potato bar on Friday, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. They’ll have their usual selection of goodies to top off the huge baked potatoes. The cost of the meal is $7 for adults, $5 for kids. Proceeds benefit the senior center.
