SOUTH BEND – In Pacific County Superior Court proceedings last Friday afternoon, Heather D. Church, 40, of Ocean Park, was sentenced to 2½ years in prison for first degree incest, possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and failure to report.

Two candidates running for Raymond School Board member No.3 were asked about what they thought they would bring to the position, their motivation to run, their vision of education in the Raymond community, current challenges, expectations and if the school board is being responsible for our children’s education.
Here are the responses from current Raymond School Board member Karen Johnson. Her opponent, Angela Gilbert, did not respond to emails or phone calls.

South Bend City Council Candidate Patricia “Pat” Neve responded to questions from the Willapa Harbor Herald. Neve is running for Position No. 3 against incumbent Cheryl Seals, who did not respond to the questions. The election is Tuesday.

Coyotes have been waking me again recently, absent since last year. Evelyn Woody let her newly-adopted Shih-Tsu out her back door on Jackson Highway one night before bedtime. Sadly, it was later found with fatal animal wounds. Evelyn asks everyone to keep a close eye on their pets, even in town.

Happy Halloween! Yes, yes, I know that’s not a particularly original greeting, but I’m just so excited about this year’s festivities. I’ve even made and/or gathered my nieces’ and nephews’ costumes this year. I decided on a Mother Goose theme: Robin Hood (there is a Mother Goose rhyme about him, which is why my 11-year-old nephew agreed to this theme), Jack, Jill, and Little Miss Muffet. They’re adorable.

I have been given the opportunity to join other local residents on a cultural exchange trip to Inasa, Japan, a small town about three-and-a-half hours west of Tokyo.
This trip will be taking place between Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 so, while I am abroad, former Toledo columnist and local independent publisher Jake Morgan will be acting as Guest Editor of the Town Crier.

After very little discussion, the Castle Rock City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Oct. 28 adding recreational marijuana facilities to their approved uses within the C-2 Highway Business District.
Located just east of Exit 48, the district is already zoned for medical marijuana collective gardens and was selected because of its distance from community-oriented facilities, as well as tourist traffic, according to City Planner TJ Keiran.
Seth Flemetis exploded for 210 yards rushing and Willapa Valley’s defense held South Bend scoreless during a 43-0 victory at Crogstad Field in Menlo Friday night. Flemetis had a 90-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
