Ryderwood News 10.30.13

Happy Halloween! I’m pretty sure the monster pumpkin will have been removed from the Café porch by the time the paper is printed. It was looking pretty sad last weekend.

But this weekend, we have the monthly Town Breakfast on Saturday morning from 8 – 10 a.m. It’s the best in morning fare (ham & eggs, pancakes, biscuits & gravy) that includes orange juice and bottomless coffee. Proceeds support town projects and veterans’ needs.

Toledo News 10.30.13

Coyotes have been waking me again recently, absent since last year. Evelyn Woody let her newly-adopted Shih-Tsu out her back door on Jackson Highway one night before bedtime. Sadly, it was later found with fatal animal wounds. Evelyn asks everyone to keep a close eye on their pets, even in town.

Wednesday Awana Clubs at Toledo First Baptist 6:30-8:00 p.m. Join us for dinner 5:30 p.m. Contact Pastor Stavig, mikes@toledotel.com or (360) 864-2550.

Winlock News 10.30.13

Happy Halloween! Yes, yes, I know that’s not a particularly original greeting, but I’m just so excited about this year’s festivities. I’ve even made and/or gathered my nieces’ and nephews’ costumes this year. I decided on a Mother Goose theme: Robin Hood (there is a Mother Goose rhyme about him, which is why my 11-year-old nephew agreed to this theme), Jack, Jill, and Little Miss Muffet. They’re adorable.

Don’t forget to hit the stores downtown, including the museum, for the trick or treating this year. Even the Winlock PTSA will be joining the fun from 3 to 5 p.m. downtown.

Castle Rock promptly passes marijuana regulations

After very little discussion, the Castle Rock City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Oct. 28 adding recreational marijuana facilities to their approved uses within the C-2 Highway Business District.

Located just east of Exit 48, the district is already zoned for medical marijuana collective gardens and was selected because of its distance from community-oriented facilities, as well as tourist traffic, according to City Planner TJ Keiran.
