Former court clerk pleads not guilty

SOUTH BEND – Trisha Belcher, the former municipal court clerk for the city of South Bend, pled not guilty to theft in the first degree with aggravating factors, a felony, in Superior Court Friday afternoon.

According to the State Auditor’s report, after a 10-week investigation the Washington State Patrol recommended a felony charge for the misappropriated funds. Auditors had discovered missing funds over a four-year time span.

PUD administrators received 24% pay increase

The Pacific County PUD has come under fire from ratepayers who demand to see their tax dollars put to good work. “This is going to be off the hook,” exclaimed Chairman Doug Hamilton. These words have been far from applicable to our familiar Willapa Harbor Festival in the past. However, when this year’s eager and diligent leading crew of Doug Hamilton, Michelle Layman, and Kaylee Hanson took the reigns, it quickly became clear that this year’s festival would in fact be “off the hook”! It seems, as though just about everyone will be involved one way or another.
