New events planned for Labor Day celebration

There are some exciting changes in store for the Come & Play on Labor Day celebration this year.  New co-chairs are Candy Earls and Tracy Flynn; both are South Bend residents and longtime committee members. The theme for 2013’s event is Beach Balls & BBQ.

N.Q. (Nob and Quality Hills) Garden Club is gearing up for their annual Plant and Gardening Sale to be held on Highway 101 at the Canary Cottages this year.  Current president Cathy Brown announced that the hours would be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or until everything is gone! That’s the day before Mother’s Day, Saturday, May 11.

Several scholarships offered

The Grays Harbor College Foundation will award approximately 240 scholarships for the coming school year, totaling more than $450,000 donated by generous individuals and businesses connected to the Twin Harbors. Both the deserving students and their donors will be recognized at the college’s annual awards event on Tuesday, May 21, at the Bishop Center.

American Legion Raymond Post 150 is a proud co-sponsor of high school junior year boys that will attend the annual Boys State Program. Also, Post 150 Auxiliary co-sponsors high school junior girls attending the Girls State program. Both programs take place in Ellensburg in June.

Harbor’s Home Health and Hospice is the local branch of a national service offered to those in need of in home care. They aim to make the elderly more comfortable and independent in their homes as well as offering education and assistance to people with illnesses or wounds that alter their everyday lives. The staff within H.H.H.& H go into client’s homes to provide a more personal care service.
