The Winlock School District is expecting to eliminate nine full-time-equivalent teaching positions and one full-time-equivalent administrative position for the 2013-2014 school year in light of continued decreases in enrollment and state funding.
Having suffered a 7.8% enrollment drop below projections for the current year, Superintendent Shannon Criss said the continuing trend of low enrollment and shrinking state funds has taken its toll on the district.

This sort of event is what this little Town is famous for: great deals, enough food to “tie you over”, and friendly people. The weather couldn’t have been more cooperative and the town looks fantastic!

An option to use the police services of Toledo is now on the table as Vader continues to seek out law enforcement alternatives.
Discussed by the Vader City Council during a workshop Friday night, Vader Mayor Ken Smith reported Toledo has offered the use of a full-time officer to work for Vader 40 hours per week if Vader agrees to pay the costs associated with that officer’s salary and work expenses. Cook said TIB has gone out of its way to continue offering the grant in light of the council’s insistence against passing a resolution accepting the funds, and said Winlock may be barred from applying for future TIB grants for at least 10 years if TIB withdraws their offer.
