‘Annie Oakley’ course offers firearm safety and self-defense training for area women

Rainsqualls soaked paper targets until they deteriorated during a March 16 “Annie Oakley” firearms training class at the Willapa Harbor Gun Range. But wet targets didn’t dampen interest in firing practice by the seven women in attendance, several of which were crack shots.

South Bend slipped past Raymond at a five-team track and field meet at rainy, windy, chilly Millam Field last Thursday before a crowd of about 250. The Lady Indians won with 106 points followed by Raymond’s output of 94, third-place Ocosta (74), Wishkah Valley (25) and Mary M. Knight (18).

Raymond ran away with the five-team track and field boys’ competition at cold, windy and wet Millam field in South Bend last Thursday. The Seagulls scored 138 points followed by 2. Wishkah Valley (81), 3. South Bend (62), 4. Ocosta (22) and 4. Mary M. Knight (22).

Vikings finish strong second at North Beach

The Willapa Valley boys finished second at a five-team meet at North Beach last Thursday that was won by Northwest Christian. The Navigators scored 121 points compared to 115 for the Vikings. The host Hyaks scored 70 points, followed by Taholah (23) and North River (12).
