300th win for Coach Peterson
300th win for Coach Peterson

John Peterson, Willapa Valley’s head boys’ basketball coach, reached a milestone by winning his 300th game. Peterson’s accomplishment came last Thursday night at North Beach HS in Oyehut. Peterson began his coaching career 21 years ago at North Beach. Two hundred and sixty eight of his wins came at Willapa Valley.

“First of all, I didn’t’ do anything. I just ran into a fantastic group at Valley the last few years. I’ve been very fortunate. “I’ve been blessed with really tough kids and they believe what we tell them,” Peterson told the Herald.

Gas prices drop in state
Average retail gasoline prices in Washington have fallen 1.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.33 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,666 gas outlets in Washington. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.26 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
