Pluvius Hill is now planked

Tuesday, July 30, 1914

In a conversation over the phone this morning, Supervisor Grant Smith of Road District No. 13 informed the Herald that he had put a crew of men at work yesterday morning laying plank over Pluvius Hill. With the exception of the two or three places, the plank has been laid, the road between here and Chehalis has been in fine shape for some time past, and travel between the two towns will now become a pleasure. There is no more beautiful scenery anywhere than can be seen along this road, and it is bound to become very popular with automobile parties.

Sewer project funds returned

Twenty six Raymond businessmen who posted $225 to insure construction of a sewer to be used for Raymond's newly proposed $95,000 post office building, this week cheered the return of their donations by Frank Jenne, Manager of the Raymond branch of the Seattle First National Bank.

The Raymond Chamber of Commerce has accepted an invitation from the Northwest Hardwood Association to explain this area's alder manufacturing potential when the association holds its annual meeting October 30 in Port Angeles.

Sidewalk sales to open festival next Thursday, August 3

Baseball, beauty queens and a bull of the woods will be among the attractions at the Willapa Harbor Loggers Festival next weekend in Raymond, with the tree topping events held in conjunction with a three-day community celebration.
