The 62nd-annual May Day Festival will be taking place this Friday and Saturday throughout Vader, with this year’s theme being "Cruisin’ Into Spring."
On Friday at 7 p.m., the May Day royalty will be crowned at the Vader Lions Hall, followed by rounds of bingo.
Saturday will begin with breakfast served at the Little Falls Masonic Lodge at 7:30 a.m., located on the corner of 9th St. and A St. Parade entries will then line up along D St. starting at 9 p.m. followed by the parade at 11 a.m. in front of the post office.
Afterward, there will be a Cake Walk, a crowd favorite among May Day veterans. The cost is $0.25 per walk, and those who fail to grab a dessert will still be able to win raffle prizes such as a fishing trip, hanging baskets and a gift certificate to Lucky Eagle Casino. Tickets will be sold until the end of the parade and the drawing will take place when the parade had concluded.
Post-parade entertainment will also include carnival games a food provided by Little Crane Café, a performance from Longview-based hula group Noe No Ka Mauna Hula Halau and Lewis County’s own Mexico Within the Heart folk dancers.
