The Olequa Senior Center will be presenting a Worm Composting class Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The class is free, but they ask that you pre-register no later than Monday, Sept. 16. All participants will receive a free composting bin, to boot.
Also on Monday, the senior center will be hosting a Newspaper Folding Party! Right now, they’ve got tons of donated papers, and they’re asking for help. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the center is offering yummy refreshments whipped up by site manager Liz, as well as a chance to help them raise extra funds. Lunch is provided at noon, if you wish to join them for $4.
And just a reminder…Colonial Residence is providing lunch at the senior center on Thursday, Sept. 19. Don’t forget to register by this Wednesday! For more information on these or future events, please contact the center at (360) 785-4325.
For all you parents of Evaline Elementary students out there, the school is inviting you to join the Evaline Booster Club. It meets every third Tuesday of the month, just before the 7 p.m. School Board meeting.
The Winlock Timberland Library will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 18, for All Staff Training Day. On that same day, Winlock Schools will have a half-day. I just put that last one out there as a reminder to parents. As an aunt, I don’t always keep up with which days are half-days.
This week’s ARTrails’ artist is Bob Espen. For over twenty years, he’s created bowls, rolling pins, wall hangings, boxes, and so many other wooden pieces! While living in Anchorage, Alaska for 23 years, he helped found the Alaska Creative Woodworkers Association as well as participated in several art shows. His specialty is lathe-turned wood—“Both sides of the same coin.” If interested in viewing his work, it will be showing at 331 Burnett Road in Winlock for the studio tour taking place on Sept. 21-22 and 28-29. Mark your calendars!
