Calling all knitters and crocheters! Now you can meet at the Olequa Senior Center on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Expert and novice alike are invited to join this non-club! The meetings are free, although you are welcome to donate $1 for using the center at that time. This is open to all ages, just come with lots of enthusiasm and, obviously, yarn and whatever supplies are needed! If enough interest is shown, they plan to keep this up weekly.
As you can already tell, the senior center’s new site manager Elizabeth Woodson is eager to keep up momentum with coming events. In addition to their BIG BIG Breakfast on Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m., they have planned a corned beef (with the option of pulled pork) lunch for Sunday at 11:30 a.m. This is to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and the cost for a full-out luncheon with all the trimmings is $8 per person.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, the senior center will be hosting Ham Bingo on Friday, March 22. Their doors open at 6 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. This event is very reasonably priced at $0.25 per card, per game, and the prizes are Easter hams! For more information on these or future events, please contact the center at 785-4325.
The Winlock Timberland Library will be presenting Junior PageTurners on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. This event is for children grades 1 through 3, and the featured title for this book discussion is “The Bee Tree” by Patricia Polacco.
On Friday at 3:30 p.m., teens will be meeting for their book club. This month’s title is “Delirium” by Lauren Oliver. For more information, please contact the library at 785-3461.
