This week, in the “Get to Know Ya” series, I am blessed to have interviewed Duane Bryant, a member of the Winlock School Board and owner of Bryant Auto Sales in Centralia. He is a great guy I have known for many years. Duane and I go back to when I was 19 years old. There have been times we haven’t talked for a long time but when we do, it’s like we never skipped a beat. He always is there to listen and he can tell a story or two. I enjoy every conversation we have had because it brings back a lot of fun memories, especially that trip to the beach! Here is my interview with Duane:
TC: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
DB: Mid court, State Basketball Championship game, Winlock up by 30.
TC: What is your greatest fear?
DB: Crazy Clowns.
TC: What is your greatest achievement?
DB: My Children.
TC: What is the one thing the people in Winlock may not know about you?
DB: That I like to see our children achieve more academically then in sports
Duane is one of those parents who has been fortunate to have kids that are good in sports and hold a 4.0 grade average…Thanks for being a friend all these years.
Activities: The Olequa Senior Center is having their Commodities food program this Friday. (Richard D. I didn’t forget you, how could I forget someone as grumpy as you, wink wink.) The Senior Center is also having their Rummage Sale on March 15, and donated items are needed.
On Friday, the Winlock Timberland Library is having their Teen Book Club from 3:30-4:30 p.m. featuring “The Maze Runner”. Then, from March 1 through April 5, the Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt will be taking place for children and, also on March 1, Eric Ode Celebrates Children’s Books in Song from 2 - 3 p.m. This is for all ages. And finally, on March 4, Construction Night from 6 - 7:30 p.m. All ages invited.
The Methodist church is having their Ash Wednesday Service on March 5 at noon with Soup and Bread following. Then, on April 17 at 6 p.m., they will be having their Maundy Thursday Communion Service with a simple meal following. Everyone is invited to attend both events. Thank you Jo Hepner for keeping me up to date!
In closing, it’s time to share a little bit about the critters around the house. Why is it when I try to sleep they think I am there to entertain them? The other night I was sound asleep, sleeping like a baby and all of the sudden Molly pounces on me, not a quiet little step at a time but literally pounces on me. She is still in the kitten stage so now that she has me awake she decides to wake up Elvis too. Elvis is an older cat; he does not want to be bothered. He decides that he doesn’t want to wake up so he crawls under the covers, not a wise move. She then pounces on him as he laid under the covers…not a wise move for her either, the hiss she got from him scared her enough to fly off the bed and not come back the rest of the night. Guess who had a good nights sleep, finally!
