Each year the Willapa Harbor Chamber of Commerce gathers nominations for businesses and individuals that people feel should have recognition for their accomplishments in trying to make our community a better place.

Even though the annual banquet had to be canceled due to the lockdown for the COVID pandemic, the awards were still distributed. Each of these businesses and individuals worked hard last year and have earned high praise for their dedication and service.

2020 Business of the Year
The 2020 Business of the Year award was given to the Seiler Home Group. Seiler Home Group was nominated for its commitment to our community. They have hosted craft nights, sponsored events and functions, and constantly portray Willapa Harbor as a beautiful place to live. This business is an asset to our families and economy.

2020 Citizen of the Year
The 2020 Citizens of the Year award went to Bob and Doris Byrd. Every holiday season they decorate their residence in South Bend. This year, like years in the past, their residence was brightly lit and became a destination for many locals looking to uplift their Christmas spirit. Doris enjoys baking her famous holiday cookies and treats for her community. Bob and Doris help make our community feel like home.

2020 Person of the Year
The 2020 Person of the Year was presented to Bethany Barnard. She spent her summer and holiday season working with the Raymond Elks Emergency Meal Project which served hundreds of meals every week while the area was locked down. Bethany also helped organize the Peacekeeper Society's food distribution in downtown Raymond this fall. They distributed over 40,000 pounds of food and over $7,000 of cleaning supplies and other necessary items. She also helped distribute tents, coats, and supplies to the homeless.

New Hero Awards
This year the chamber decided that there were too many organizations that needed to be recognized because of their help with the COVID-19 response. These essential businesses worked without fail to help Pacific County's residents during their time of need.

The 2020 Hero Awards were presented to:
Willapa Harbor Hospital
Pacific County Public Health
Pioneer Grocery
Raymond Elks #1292
St. Lawrence Catholic Church

The chamber trustees would like to thank all who took the time to submit a nomination of an individual or business in our area who helps make this great community such a great place to live and work.
